Here is a partial list of what will be open and closed in Montreal on Labour Day on Sept. 2.
Closed
- Government offices such as Revenu Québec, Accès Montréal and municipal court
- Canada Post offices, with no mail collection or delivery
- Malls and banks
- Société québécoise du cannabis stores
Open
- Regular garbage, recycling and compost collection
- Ecocentres and Montreal’s 311 information line
- Montreal’s public markets, including Atwater and Jean-Talon
- Espace pour la vie attractions — the Biodôme, Insectarium, Botanical Garden, Planetarium and Biosphère (for more information, consultespacepourlavie.ca)
- Parking rules and restrictions, including parking meters
Varying
- Schedules for libraries, pools, sports venues and cultural centres vary from borough to borough. Check individual locations or visitmontreal.cafor more details.
- Large grocery stores will be closed, but small ones may be open. Pharmacies are allowed to open but may choose not to.
- Most Société des alcools du Québec stores will be closed, but those in public markets and SAQ Express stores will be open.
Public transit
Public transit services will operate on holiday schedules, and lines that don’t run weekends will not run:
- Montreal (STM) buses and métro will run on a special holiday schedule.
- Laval (STL) and Longueuil (RTL) transit buses will run on Sunday schedules.
- Exo buses will run on Saturday schedules and Exo trains on Sunday schedules.
- The REM will run on Sunday schedules.
