Critics Consensus

Wickedly funny and featuring plenty of gore, Zombieland is proof that the zombie subgenre is far from dead.

Zombieland | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Candice Frederick Reel Talk Online It's an okay DVD rental choice but doesn't go beyond that. Rated: C- Sep 11, 2017 Full Review Zombieland | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Lisa Rosman Us Weekly With its quick pace and witty writing, it's a nonstop, snarky ride. Jul 19, 2017 Full Review Zombieland | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Deborah Ross The Spectator It is never properly scary. Mostly, it is just very silly, but because the film knows it is silly, it's all rather infectious and not the big, cliché-pumped bore it might otherwise have been. Sep 22, 2014 Full Review Zombieland | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Manuel São Bento MSB Reviews Zombieland has all the attributes of a pure blockbuster: a phenomenal cast, a straightforward narrative packed with thrilling sequences, a short runtime with fast pacing, compelling characters, and thousands of zombies. Rated: A- Jul 24, 2023 Full Review Zombieland | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand The zombie comedy was hardly fresh territory when "Zombieland" came along (and really, will anyone top "Shaun of the Dead"?) but it nonetheless does a fine job of mining the humor inherent in the end of the world. Mar 12, 2022 Full Review Zombieland | Rotten Tomatoes (6) George Fenwick Stuff.co.nz For all its silliness, this is not, pardon the pun, brainless; rather, it’s a ruthlessly funny explosion of zombie-film cliches that somehow doubles as a charming road movie. Audience M Refreshing, comedic take on the zombie sub-genre. With surprising emotional depth, particularly in Tallahassee’s search for a twinkie in a post-apocalyptic US. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/23/24 Full Review Julian S Eisenberg’s insipid rambling is utterly unbearable. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/31/24 Full Review Stephen H So damn good and classic. One of my favorites. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Mitchell S This is a great zombie movie because there's actual substance to it. It's not just entering a kill count contest. It has character growth and even heart. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/24/24 Full Review Audience M Refreshing, comedic take on the zombie sub-genre. With surprising emotional depth, particularly in Tallahassee’s search for a twinkie in a post-apocalyptic US. Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/04/24 Full Review Omari S This was a pretty silly movie. I went in expecting horror but it’s not scary at all, it’s mainly a comedy set in a zombie survival plot. So you got your usual zombie in the backseat scene and your attempts at a jumpscare. I mean the movie does have its funny moments. The Bill Murray part made me laugh but the rest of the movie isn’t particular humorous. It was entertaining though I will give it that, but very funny or scary so can’t give it a rating too high. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/19/24 Full Review Read all reviews
